We are moving full speed ahead to Opening Day, and the New York Liberty are looking to establish their foundation.
“It’s nothing like last year,” said Sabrina Ionescu about the Chris DeMarco offense.
“It's going to be completely different, but I'd say the sense of ‘we're all going to be playing to our strengths’ is always going to be the same.
The Women’s Basketball Roundup team has been on the scene at Barclays Center covering the Liberty training camp, and the Liberty have been deliberate about improving their process on offense.
After being second in the WNBA in offensive rating in 2023 and first in 2024, the Liberty fell to fifth in 2025. With a new head coach comes a new approach to offense.

Preseason action begins this weekend, and we'll get to see the Liberty debut of Satou Sabally. Sabally is fully healed from the concussion she suffered during the 2025 WNBA Finals and has been active in training camp.
Although we won't see the complete version of the Liberty this weekend, their first game is a great opportunity to fine tune some things.
This is a big year for the Liberty. The team has made upgrades and hopes to contend for a title. With new players and new energy, they're in great position to contend.
We'll see if they meet their expectations.
